We helped Salisbury International Arts Festival shape a brand that felt as joyful, expressive and proudly local as the event itself.

The Challenge

To create a brand for Salisbury International Arts Festival, bringing to life the joy, excitement and creativity the event delivers to the city, as well as reflecting the city and its people.

Our challenge was to capture this excitement in a way that felt honest, without feeling forced or unfamiliar.

The Solution

We built a fun and playful design system inspired by the variety of shapes found within the architecture of its landmarks. These shapes served as windows to contain the events of the festival.

This embracing of shape and pattern continued into the typography, where we utilised a typeface that allowed for letterform substitution to reflect the varying and multi-demographic nature of what the festival was offering.

We also built a rich colour palette inspired by Wiltshire as a whole, as well as the arts scene itself. Together, all these elements created a brand full of joy, expression, but also familiarity – a celebration of not just the festival, but also Salisbury and its people.
