Ten questions with… Oliver Berry

We’re delighted to bring Oliver on board as a full time Front End Developer. Oliver is a techie through and through, he brings with him a wealth of experience developing in WordPress.

But more than this,  he has a great eye for detail experience in design , which makes him a real asset when it comes to producing visually stunning websites and online experiences.

Here’s ten questions to get to know him a little better…

Oliver Berry

1. What do you do?

I’m a Front End Web developer for Zap Creative.

2. What’s your career highlight so far?

Working with a few small companies to demonstrably improve their online presence and sales. I really love working with people to get their brand the recognition they deserve.

3. Which brand excites you the most at the moment? (Doesn’t have to be one of ours!)

LooseHeadz, they’re a foundation that’s really helping to make the dialogue around mental health a lot more mainstream and I’ve seen how their campaign has grown organically. Their branding and is pretty simple, but I love how it works and it’s instantly recognisable with how they’re connected as a community.

4. Who’s your favourite graphic artist?

Banksy. I went to university in Bristol and spent a few weekends touring the city with a few friends looking at his early work before he became as well known as he is now.

5. What attracted you to Zap?

I’ve wanted to work for a creative agency for a long time and Zap offered the chance to work on a diverse range of projects with a team of designers, challenging me to turn their amazing concepts into interactive websites.

6. Last film you watched?

L.A. Confidential

7. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Probably steam trains, I’m not a “train-spotter”, but I am on a waiting list to be footplate crew at a nearby heritage line.

8. Most embarrassing moment?

Turning up to a friend’s birthday in fancy dress when I wasn’t notified the restaurant we’d booked had asked us not to. Fortunately it wasn’t as full on as Del Boy and Rodney jumping in as Batman & Robin with silly string, but I still felt like a complete plonker.

9. If you could choose any superpower…

Controlling time, sure being able to fly or turn yourself invisible would be fun, but this might save some of the more embarrassing moments from happening.

10. What are you looking forward to most this year?

Really getting my teeth into the projects Zap has lined up, watching live rugby again and getting to the Alps to ski with friends this winter.
